 New in 2008
For more than a decade, the Public Awareness Campaign has been working on behalf of NAR’s members to educate and persuade consumers about the value of hiring a REALTORŪ.

In 2008, the campaign will go even further, countering some of the recent negative national media reports related to the housing market with facts about the value of housing as a long-term investment and helping local and state REALTORŪ associations educate consumers about actual conditions in their local real estate markets.

The 2008 campaign features two new buyer-focused advertisements:


Building Wealth "Building Wealth“ emphasizes the importance of homeownership in creating long-term wealth. Using data from respected third-party sources, the materials demonstrate the effect that homeownership has on household wealth.

Home Values "Home Values“ explains the benefits of buying a home in the current marketplace, with affordability improving and a new first-time home buyer tax credit that will expire next year.


Both ads encourage buyers who are on the fence to contact a REALTORŪ who can start them on the path toward owning their own home.

The ads also direct consumers to a new microsite, www.HousingMarketFacts.com, which educates potential home buyers about the value of homeownership, provides resources and research about the current housing market and industry issues, and, of course, helps buyers and sellers find a REALTORŪ.

Hispanic Outreach CampaignAlso in 2008, NAR’s Hispanic outreach campaign continues to reach this important and growing consumer segment with new television and radio commercials, print ads, outdoor and bus shelter ads, posters and Web banners, all available for state and local association use.

Research Results
Each year the National Association of REALTORSŪ conducts three separate tracking studies with consumers and members to assess attitudes and perceptions regarding REALTORSŪ, NAR, and the real estate profession. One of those tracking studies is conducted with Hispanic consumers to specifically assess the effectiveness of the Public Awareness Campaign’s Spanish-language advertising.
